The most iconic Escape from Tarkov Prapor task has been bestowed upon you, congratulations, it's time to locate the Machinery Key and infiltrate construction in pursuit of completing the task "Checking." Although amounting to mass popularity and memes, the "Checking" task provided by Prapor can be rather easy to forget due to the location of the Machinery Key needed to complete the task. The task begins in Customs Dorm rooms, where players have to infiltrate the rooms to find the key, then make their way over to construction, unlock the oil tanker, pick up the pocket watch, then survive and extract, simple enough?

Before beginning this task it's important to note you're going into Customs and operating in high-traffic areas, both dorms and construction obtain high attention throughout each raid. Therefore, consider bringing in gear that'll see you through a couple of 12ga shells and 5.45x39 rounds.

How to Complete "Checking" in Escape from Tarkov

To begin this task, equip your most comfortable and reliable loadout for this journey you're about to embark upon. Customs remain unforgiving after every wipe and you're going to receive grief from enemy players and scavs at both the dorms and construction locations. For a weapon, pick an assault rifle with a close-quarter scope, red dot/holographic will be perfect. 

Firstly, once in raid head to the "Dorms" building, the three-story building, and locate room "205" based on the second floor of the dorms building. Once finding the room, enter the dorm and locate the Machinery key inside the yellow jacket hung up in the room. Inside the jacket will be the machinery key, if it is not there, someone else has taken it and you must re-enter another raid, or check to see if the tanker is already unlocked.

Once obtaining the key, carefully exit the building and head towards the "tanker" based within construction, be careful of alerting scavs along the way! Once reaching construction, ensure the coast is clear and walk over to the driver's side door of the tanker and unlock the door with the key. Once unlocking the door, look at the floor inside the truck and you will see the golden pocket watch, pick it up and begin heading to extraction. Again, keep watch of any scavs and players, this task will only be completed if you manage to survive and extract with the watch. 

To be clear, once picking up the pocket watch and dying, players will need to complete the task again. Those who kept the key in their secure container won't need another key, however, if you lost the key, you will need to repeat the entire task again and survive.

Here are the following rewards for the task:

  • +1,800 EXP
  • Prapor Rep +0.03
  • 15,000 Roubles
    • 15,750 Roubles with Intelligence Center Level 1
    • 17,250 Roubles with Intelligence Center Level 2
  • 1× Simonov SKS 7.62x39 carbine
  • 60× 7.62x39mm PS gzh
Obviously, for a beginner, these rewards aren't too shabby, especially the Simonov SKS carbine. Players at this early stage will have a long road to travel in terms of progression, however, completing tasks like Prapors "checking" and "debut" will only progress you further to victory.
