ORIGIN
Danny Ocean is a Venezuelan singer, songwriter, and producer residing in Miami, Florida. Formerly known as Danny O.C.T, his musical ventures began back in 2009. In 2016, his hit single “Me Rehuso” (I Refuse) went viral and garnered him much attention. Piggybacking off its success, Ocean dropped the English version “Baby I won’t.” Given the name Daniel Morales, he was born on May 5, 1992, in Caracas, Venezuela. Despite spending several years in other countries growing up, he returned to his native country as an adolescent. His father was a musician and had a major influence on his upbringing. From a young age, Danny Ocean would mimic the sounds of various objects; ranging from sirens to household appliances. By the end of his schooling, music was an irreplaceable part of his life. He began collaborating with friends; singing and producing rap music.
CAREER
In 2009, Danny Ocean started producing music professionally using the moniker Danny O.C.T. One of his early projects “Backstage” was featured on a compilation album titled Desolat X-Sampler Purple. He then released two EPs, “Parachutes” and “U-YE,” in 2014 and 2015 respectively. The projects saw minimal success. Despite music being his primary focus, Danny Ocean refused to turn a blind eye to the economic and political turmoil his native country was facing. To pursue a better life for himself, he relocated to Miami, Florida in 2015. Accepting low-paying jobs and having to fit in, he aimed towards expanding his music.
In 2016, Danny Ocean wrote the song “Me Rehuso.” The song was inspired by his Venezuelan girlfriend whom he had to leave behind in order to come to the United States. Although the song started off slow, it eventually became a viral hit. To date, it’s received over 1 Billion views on YouTube and hundreds of millions on Spotify. Due to its success in Latin countries and throughout the United States, an English version was demanded. Danny Ocean would answer with “Baby I Won’t.” It too achieved millions of hits. In 2017, Ocean signed a contract with Warner Music Latina and Atlantic Records. It was evident that his career has soared to new heights. He became one of the first artists to grace every Latina chart on the music platform Spotify. In recent work, Danny Ocean released singles “Veneno,” “Vuelve,” and “Dembow.” He is reportedly working on his upcoming studio album.
